This is a solid, little bass for the price!
Most 5-string models go for much more, and while the spacing feels close for me, it plays really smooth and the neck feels great and fat! I'm not normally a fan of j-bass pickup configurations, but this set sounds pretty good. They have a very modern sound, round and with some bite. Overall they open up to a great variety of sounds that work for any style.
I personally noticed that the back cavity for getting to the potentiometers is VERY large considering the three stock pots are very small. The cavity leaves a lot of room for possible additions of larger pots/switches, routing for additional pots/switches, and yes, even a battery box and preamp if you want to convert this bass to an avtice bass! I orignally bought the bass as a backup 5-string incase my musicman busted a string or killed a battery during a gig, but after two, easy mods, this bass became a gig-heavy set!
