So, a few years ago I picked up drums and was very satisfied playing them, but the excess size and weight of drums made it difficult for me to move the set around from one location to another. The constant need to disassemble and reassemble the drums made me think about looking into learning another instrument with more portability. Enter the bass guitar.Already having a sense of rhythm established from playing drums, I decided to learn bass. When shopping around for a good quality yet inexpensive bass guitar to begin with, I encountered this one by Ibanez. The price is excellent for a beginner's bass guitar, and the bass sounds pretty good when run through a decent amplifier with the proper settings applied. The sound is deep with just the right amount of resonance, creating a nice, clean sound. As for the physical appearance of the bass, the bass looks great. Painted in a glossy... I used high-grit sandpaper and steel wool to make the neck lightning-fast. * Horn = The upper horn is overly-long and skinny. It looks a little goofy. * Cover-screws = the screws holding the cavity-covers are not flush with the back of the bass. The screws scrape my clothes. Overall, the GSR200 sounds good. The bass has little audible interference. The pickups are good. The knobs are solid. The sub-$200 price makes this a great value. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful This review is from: Ibanez Soundgear GSR200 Bass Guitar - Black I bought this to record bass tracks with. I usually play drums but this thing sounds sweet and is great for someone that doesn't have big hands. You can be very nimble on the fret board and the action is great. I run it through the mixer and studio monitors so I haven't heard it through an amp but I am sure it will sound awesome at that point. I would never recommend buying one of those gig packs. Go buy this and a nice bass amp for $200 an you'll be good to go for awhile! |
