Epiphone Nikki Sixx Signature Blackbird Bass Guitar, Pitch Black Satin

Product Description

A real "Live Wire" of a bass! The Nikki Sixx Blackbird is the bass that the Cre hardcore have been waiting for. Like the man who created it, this stunning signature model is dark, desirable and dangerous to know, boasting the kind of looks, comfort and sounds that are sure to kick-start the heart of everyone who sees it.Its not hard to spot Sixxs influence on the new Epiphone Blackbird. Naturally, Pitch Black is the colour of choice across the length of that iconic mahogany body, while the fingerboard inlays and pickguard emblem are designed by the man himself. The slim-taper hard maple neck has the perfect dimensions for rolling off those rumbling basslines, while the Sixx-designed Opti-Grab feature and on-off toggle ensure that youll stand out from the crowd whenever you sling it round your neck. But to really unlock the Sixx appeal of the new Epiphone Blackbird, you need to plug it in and hear it roar. Equipped with Epiphones new DeepSixx bass humbuckers at the neck and bridge, this bad boy covers all the tones in the Cre back catalogue, from the raucous rock of Girls, Girls, Girls to the powerful grooves of Dr. Feelgood. Nikki Sixx has a bit of a reputation. As the founding member and principal songwriter for LA hairspray legends Mtley Cre, the infamous bassist has left a trail of chaos, destruction and classic anthems in his wake since the release of Too Fast For Love in 1981. So its no surprise that when Sixx hooked up with Epiphone recently to create a brand-new signature model built to his specification, they let him do exactly what he wanted. The Epiphone Nikki Sixx Blackbird is the result. First let me start by saying that I really do not care for Motley Crue, so this review will NOT be influenced by a liking for Nikki Sixx nor is it the other way around. The pickups are extremely HOT in this bass, and there is no tone or volume controls, just a kill switch. It sounds good, but it is only good for rock or metal, if you want to play clean, stay away from this one. This is an absolutely beautiful bass, I personally don't care for the iron cross inlays, but that is just a matter of personal taste. The bass is extremely heavy, and it tends to have a little neck dive. The best thing about this bass is the neck, which is EXTRAORDINARILY comfortable. It stays in tune very well, and the build quality is very nice. The Opti-grab is a neat idea, some will like it, some wont, I personally don't care for it as it tends to get in my way, but it can be used to help balance the bass out a bit. The last thing is the price. It's $100 more than the regular Epiphone Thunderbird, and while... Read more
