The Epiphone Goth Thunderbird VI bass is the best selling bass in its price class. Period. Its secret to success is the clean, Pitch Black finish, on the Mahogany/Basswood body with responsive Maple neck featuring a Rosewood fingerboard complete with Roman numeral "XII" inlaid in 12th fret posistion. Its famous thunder comes from the acclaimed Epiphone high-output TB-Plus bass humbucker pickups and bears the "Celtic cross" mark on the pickguard.

Epiphone Goth ThunderBird-IV Bass, Plain Black Reviews

I own this T Bird and the Vintage Sunburst. Both of these Basses are my favorite. It has the Action and rumble of a Rickenbacker 4001 and the flexibilty and Tone of a Fender Jazz Bass. Great for a Musician starting out who cant quite afford a Gibson. For the price, you can own the Gibson Quality, even though its is an Epiphone. My only Complaint is that it is not available as a 5 string, but can be tuned as low as CFBE(top to bottom) with out distortion or clipping.

For $300, this is an amazing instrument.
For the past 30+ years my main bass has been a '64 Fender Precision. It has out-lived the Rickenbackers, the Steinberger, the Gibson EB-3, and so on. Recently I bought this Goth bass for my 15 y.o. daughter, who also plays. Seemed like a pretty safe bet at only $300. Of course, she just loves it. The problem is, so do I. The tonal quality is both bright and deep. Just the way it should be. But what I love most about this bass is the responsiveness when playing thump-n-pluck method. Hard to believe a $300 bass can sound so good! Plus, it just looks bad-ass. So now the '64 Precision has become a museum piece, and I'm back here on Amazon to buy another Epi-Goth bass so my daughter won't be upset about me bogarting hers.
Great value for the money.

I own the Thunderbird Goth. I really love the style of this bass. The low end on this has the exact sound I was wanting from a bass. I've owned a lot of different basses. But I'm hooked on this one. I bought this to get my chops back after not playing for a while and its just been such a fun bass to play I can't put it down. The only thing I didn't like is the Celtic cross on the pickguard. (I know, everyone is booing me right now) But I personally didn't think it needed it. I took a screw driver, removed the pickguard and but the screws back in place. Now the whole body is a nice flat black and I like it even better.
