I got this bass and play it through my Polytone tube amp and amazingly it sounds better than my other instrument (it costs 700 dollars). The pickups will sound nice when played through a decent amp. Some pickups (like the ones on my 700 lead) need to be replaced because they will never sound good. This bass here is good to go without changing anything for me.

Very nice guitar for the money. I was very pleased by the quality. Quite often with the cheaper guitars the frets are un-filed on the edges and there are other sloppy areas - NOT with this guitar; frets are nicely beveled and everything else is solid. There is one problem with this bass. It hasn't been set-up very well. That's not a problem if you know how to do it yourself or are willing to pay someone to do it for you but is is a consideration. Playing in the first position isn't too bad, but the strings are too high farther up the neck. I had to put a shim under the neck/body connection and adjust the neck, pick-up height, and intonation. Now that is set-up better I really like it alot - especially for the price.
