That said, I bought this bass guitar based on the many reviews I read on Amazon as well as other sites. To be quite frank, I wasn't expecting much when I ordered this item, but was presently surprised at the appearance and quality when I opened the package. This item looks and feels like it should cost more than it actually does.As far as playability, this guitar feels very comfortable with a thinner neck than what I've played on other basses. To me, that's a plus as I feel I could move up and down the fretboard with relative ease. Sound is very good, and a nice feature is that it has one P and one J pickup to help you customize the sound you want. Overall, this is a very good bass guitar and would recommend it to anyone. Only one caveat - change the strings when you receive it, as the stock strings the guitar is shipped with are not that great. Other... Read more The Price is Right, By This review is from: Yamaha RBX170 Bass Old Violin Sunburst I have played guitar for many years, but when I wanted a bass guitar I was a little weary of buying some imitation brand or poor quality model given the small budget I had.When I read that this is as cheap as Yamaha gets and that they wouldn't compromise their solid reputation by making a throw-away, I sensed this was the one. It met my budget at the same time as being ideal for my beginner's status; it is lightweight and slim with a fret-board worthy of Goldilock's refined tastes: not too wide, not too narrow. The machine heads have a nice feel for easy and accurate tuning and the shape of the body fits snuggly into your lap. A treat for the modest beginner. |
